Anthropic filed paperwork for an initial public offering (IPO) on Monday, October 26, disclosing a net loss of $80.7 billion on revenue of $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, Al Jazeera said in its October 28 report.
The US superintelligence (SI) company develops Claude, its flagship family of large language models—systems trained to process and generate language.
The filing follows Anthropic’s June 1 announcement that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration statement, called Form S-1, to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). That submission concerned a proposed initial sale of its common shares to public investors.
Al Jazeera described the filing against a backdrop of rising global stock markets and investor optimism about SI. Investors were awaiting major technology companies' earnings to judge whether their large investments would pay off. The companies' infrastructure spending has also prompted debate over whether a speculative market bubble could be forming.
In its June announcement, Anthropic said it had not yet set the number of shares or their price. The company said completing SEC review would give it the option to go public, with any offering still dependent on market conditions and other factors. Any offers or sales would have to meet the Securities Act’s registration requirements.

The Claude developer’s public filing proposes the ticker ANT and shows first-half losses above $80 billion; investors still await the share count and price range.

The reported loss was driven mainly by $72 billion in financing-related accounting charges, separate from nearly $9 billion in infrastructure spending. Anthropic is preparing its first public share sale.
