A new draft anti-discrimination bill in Armenia explicitly mentions sexual orientation, OC Media said on 26 October. The wording is a proposal, not a protection that has taken effect.
Armenia’s Constitution and several laws already prohibit discrimination, but those laws address only a narrow range of discrimination issues, the CSO Meter website said. In its account of an earlier draft, the account said sexual orientation and gender identity were not explicitly listed as grounds for protection.
Naming sexual orientation in the new draft does not itself change the law. The proposed wording would have to be adopted before it could become part of Armenia’s legal protections.
