The October 29 decision extends monthly support for families of missing servicemen through December 2026 inclusive, beyond the previous September cutoff.

Armenia’s Cabinet decided on October 29 to extend monthly assistance of AMD 300,000 to families of missing servicemen through December 2026 inclusive, Civic.am, a news site close to the governing Civil Contract party, whose platform includes a peace agenda, a peace treaty and normalisation with Azerbaijan and Turkey, said.
The previous entitlement ran through September. In its October 28 account of the draft decision and its justification, Iravaban.net said the proposed extension covered 20 families of servicemen missing as a result of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. It added three months: October, November and December.
The assistance programme was established by government decision No. 2001-L on December 10, 2020. The Cabinet’s preceding extension, adopted on August 13, 2026, covered July, August and September for 20 families, NEWS.am reported.
Under the previous rules described in the October 28 account, payments were to stop from October 1 for families whose entitlement ended in September and whose missing relative had not been declared missing by a court. The proposed extension therefore included October, the month in which payments had been due to stop.
The draft’s authors said continuing the payments was necessary to maintain uninterrupted social support for the families.
The draft estimated the three-month cost at AMD 18 million. It proposed financing the extension by reallocating 2026 state-budget funds assigned to Armenia’s Ministry of Labour and Welfare.
Under the draft, the Minister of Labour and Welfare would have ten days after the decision entered into force to submit a budget-reallocation proposal to Armenia’s Prime Minister’s Office. The draft envisaged payments ending from January 2027, after assistance for December 2026.
