Armenia and India held their 12th round of political consultations in New Delhi on 29 October 2026, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said. Armenian Deputy Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan and Sibi George, Secretary (West) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, led the talks.
The ministry said the sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in trade, defense, high technology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, connectivity, education, culture and tourism. They also emphasized continued high-level political dialogue and discussed cooperation in international forums.
Earlier talks and agreements
A 2 October account by Diplo of India’s June 2026 bilateral brief says the preceding consultations took place in Yerevan on 7 November 2025, led by Safaryan and George.
The brief also records that 2 memoranda were signed during Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan’s 09-11 March 2025 visit to India. They linked the countries’ diplomatic training institutions and, separately, India’s drug-standards organization with Armenia’s drug and medical-technology expertise center.
Peace and transport links
Armenia’s ministry said Safaryan briefed George on efforts to put peace in the South Caucasus on a lasting institutional footing and advance transport and communication projects, including the government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative.
Proposed by Armenia’s government in October 2023, Crossroads of Peace seeks to improve transport links with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Turkey and promote regional cooperation.
Business contacts and investment discussions
On 29 October 2026 in New Delhi, Safaryan met the Confederation of Indian Industry, a nongovernmental business and industry organization; investment promotion agency Invest India; and the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India, known as Pharmexcil. Armenia’s ministry said the meetings explored trade and investment cooperation in information technology, high technology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and transport links.
Safaryan presented Armenia’s economic development prospects and current trends, as well as steps to diversify its export markets. He told his interlocutors that expanding regional connections amid the establishment of peace created new economic opportunities.
The ministry has not announced a signed agreement from either the political consultations or the business meetings, a follow-up project or an implementation deadline. Both sides at the business meetings emphasized establishing direct contacts between Armenian and Indian businesses and expanding cooperation.
