Belarus’s standards regulator has ordered the two brandies off the market from 31 October 2026, barring their import and sale nationwide.

Belarus’s State Committee for Standardization, known as Gosstandart, has prohibited imports and sales of Armenia’s 7-year ARAME and Georgia’s 8-year Pogreb Shio brandies from 31 October 2026. The nationwide prohibition follows technical-compliance findings by the regulator, Civic.am said.
ARAME’s conformity document, which records compliance with product requirements, had been registered on 12 August 2024. Its validity has also been suspended, Armenia Today said, citing Belarus’s state registry.
Gosstandart said both products failed Customs Union technical requirements covering food safety, labeling and the relevant product categories. It said the names on the packaging did not reliably describe the contents. Its specialists concluded that the products could not be identified or sold as cognac.
The regulator cited tannin concentrations below the required minimum. The measurements below are in grams per cubic decimetre (g/dm³); the ± values indicate measurement uncertainty.
| Affected brandy | Manufacturer | Measured concentration | Required minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-year ARAME | MAP CJSC, Armenia |
| 0.16 ± 0.01 g/dm³ |
| 0.3 g/dm³ |
| 8-year Pogreb Shio | Kvarelsky Pogreb LLC, Georgia | 0.16 ± 0.01 g/dm³ | 0.3 g/dm³ |
The reported measurement for Pogreb Shio differs between accounts. An ArmInfo report published by Finport, citing Gosstandart data reviewed by TASS, gives 0.12 g/dm³ rather than Civic.am’s 0.16 ± 0.01 g/dm³.
Armenia Today’s account of the registry dates the ARAME prohibition order to 27 October 2026. From 31 October 2026, neither of the two named products may be imported or sold anywhere in Belarus.
UMC’s board approved the additional budget on October 28, 2026, to accelerate expansion aimed at meeting customers’ manufacturing needs.
