France offered a closer challenge than in Hamilton, but New Zealand’s replacements helped the Black Ferns claim a second consecutive international win.

New Zealand’s Black Ferns beat France 31–12 at Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei in the WXV Global Series, with RugbyPass crediting the replacements for helping the hosts take control in the second half.
The victory followed New Zealand’s heavier win over France in Hamilton. RugbyPass described a more competitive contest in Whangarei, where the Black Ferns struggled to establish control before their experienced reserves made an impact.
France’s opening try followed a blocked kick from Tara Turner. Turner then supplied a long pass to Mererangi Paul, who ran through untouched for New Zealand’s first try. Shyrah Tuliau-Tua’a also scored in the left-hand corner during the first half, with Braxton Sorensen-McGee contributing a quick catch and pass in the buildup.
Hannah King came on at halftime and helped direct the attack by receiving passes to organise play, easing the pressure on captain Ruahei Demant, according to RugbyPass. The report also credited replacement forward Maiakawanakaulani Roos with making the attack more direct and breaking through French defenders on her first two runs with the ball.
Two more replacements combined for a late try: Maia Joseph sent a wide pass to Amarante Sititi, who scored close to the posts. Sorensen-McGee added a late solo try, weaving through three French defenders in a finish that RugbyPass described as all but securing New Zealand’s second consecutive win over France.

Ireland beat South Africa 40–27 at Athlone Stadium, while Wales beat Japan 17–0 in Tokyo, sending Japan down to thirteenth in the world rankings.
