China won its first women’s team title since 2006 at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam on Wednesday, ending the United States’ seven-title winning streak. Qiu Qiyuan secured victory with the final floor routine, Al Jazeera reported.
The Americans had last missed gold when Russia beat them at the 2010 championships. China, which also led qualifying for this final, finished with 165.764 points.
| Place | Team | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | China | Gold, 165.764 points |
| 2 | United States | Silver, 0.233 points behind China |
| 3 | Japan | Bronze, 1.468 points behind the US |

The US led at halfway, helped by strong vault and uneven-bars routines from Skye Blakely. She was the only member of the team who had also competed in the five-gymnast squad that won the country’s seventh consecutive title in 2023.
Several American errors on the balance beam changed the contest. Caylor Dulcy, 18, stumbled and scored 12.333. China outscored the US by more than four points on that apparatus, helped by Zhang Qingying’s 15.066. Zhang had also topped beam qualifying.

Richard and Pease won floor, Andrade took women’s vault and Zou won parallel bars on October 24–25 in Rotterdam. Artur Davtyan won men’s vault with 14.850 on October 25.

The separate men’s team final took place on Tuesday, with Japan winning ahead of Russia and China. Al Jazeera’s Thursday report said the championships would continue that day, October 22, with the men’s all-around competition, which combines each gymnast’s scores across the apparatus.
