eBay confirmed on October 22 that it plans to cut about 9% of its global workforce, its second reduction of 2026. The online marketplace operator previously cut about 800 jobs, or 6% of its workforce, in February as part of efforts to streamline operations.
Crunchbase News, citing Reuters, put the latest reduction at 1,100 jobs in its October 28 tracker. An eBay spokesperson gave a different estimate—roughly 1,000 employees—in an October 22 Reuters report carried by KSL. Both accounts put the reduction at about 9%.
Chief executive Jamie Iannone told employees in an internal memo reviewed by Reuters that eBay was simplifying operations and redirecting resources toward its fastest-growing areas. The affected roles, locations and implementation dates remain unclear.
eBay expects restructuring costs of $130 million to $150 million before tax, mostly tied to severance and benefits for departing employees. In a regulatory filing, the company said most of those costs would be recorded in the fourth quarter of 2026 and were expected to lead to future cash payments.

The satellite operator expects access to more than twice OneWeb’s current bandwidth in return for spending in 2027–2034, with initial IRIS² services expected from 2030.
