Syrian customs authorities reopened the Nassib border crossing with Jordan to passenger and commercial traffic on Wednesday, October 28, Al Jazeera said on October 29. The crossing had temporarily closed on Tuesday, October 27, following Jordanian airstrikes in southern Syria.
Syria’s General Authority for Borders and Customs said passenger and commercial truck traffic resumed in both directions on Wednesday morning. Operations had returned to normal, with border personnel again serving travellers and freight vehicles.
Jordan launched the airstrikes in the southern Syrian regions of Deraa and Suwayda on Monday evening, October 26, a day before the crossing closed.
Nassib, also known as the Jaber crossing, lies on the Damascus–Amman international highway and is the main crossing for Syrian exports to Jordan. Its reopening allows passengers and freight operators to use that route again.
