Kathy Hochul wins New York governor’s race, NBC News projects
The Democratic incumbent is projected to defeat Republican Bruce Blakeman in the November 3 election, keeping New York’s governorship in Democratic hands.

NBC News has projected that New York Gov. Kathy Hochul won reelection over Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive, in the November 3 governor’s race. Hochul is the Democratic incumbent; Blakeman was her Republican challenger.
The Hollywood Reporter said Hochul led by 47 percentage points with about one-fifth of votes tallied. The network’s call is a projection, not a certified result, and that margin reflects only the partial count.
Existing film incentives
During Hochul’s governorship, New York passed a film tax-credit program worth $800 million a year through 2036, with an additional $100 million dedicated to maximizing benefits for independent productions. The program predates the election.
