Meta commits to security patches and bug fixes through the end of 2027 and sets December 2027 as the last chance to submit new apps. Both headset stores will stay open for purchases.

Meta says its Quest 2 and Quest Pro virtual reality headsets will receive their final operating-system updates in March 2027. The company has committed to security patches and bug fixes through the end of 2027, while December 2027 will be the last opportunity for developers to submit new apps for the devices.
The headsets launched in 2020 and 2022, respectively. Meta says millions of people still use them. Meta discontinued Quest 2 in September 2024 and introduced Quest 3S as its entry-level replacement. Remaining Quest 2 stock was sold through the rest of 2024.
What stays available
The app stores will remain open and owners will still be able to buy apps after feature development ends, Engadget says. Cross-play, which lets people play together across different headset models, will also continue with Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Developers can continue to update existing apps after Meta ends support. The submission cutoff applies to new apps, not updates to those already available.
