Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said automated tasks using Copilot, the company’s SI chatbot and tool, had nearly doubled since July, while daily users had grown by 500% from a year earlier.
Fortune, citing CNBC, reported that Microsoft’s total capital expenditure, including finance leases, rose to $45.2 billion in the reported quarter, while its chief financial officer expected spending to exceed 50 billion dollars in the following quarter. Total capital expenditure is distinct from the separately reported superintelligence (SI) investment measure.
Amazon forecasts fourth-quarter operating income of $28.5 billion to $33.5 billion, below analysts’ expectations at the midpoint. CEO Andy Jassy expects capital spending to rise further in 2027.

Microsoft disclosed plans earlier that week to cut thousands of workers, which would further reduce costs. It also planned to continue investing heavily in SI.
Analysis
Forrester principal analyst Tracy Woo said Microsoft’s results showed that business demand for SI remained strong and that the results also raised a larger question for the technology industry: where SI’s financial value would ultimately be captured.
