Wei Yi gains 3 points to 2761, passing Vincent Keymer, unchanged at 2761, who drops to ninth. Challenger Javokhir Sindarov is fourth on 2782, 72 points and 22 places ahead of world champion Gukesh Dommaraju, 26th on 2710, before their title match.
Wei Yi moves above Vincent Keymer in the November 2026 classical chess rankings published by the International Chess Federation, known as FIDE. Their swap is the only change in the order of the top ten from the previous monthly list.
Chess.com says Wei’s performance in October’s European Club Cup lifted him above Keymer. But 3 subsequent draws in the Chinese League put Wei below Keymer again in live ratings, which track results between official monthly lists. That later order does not change the November publication.
Wei, a Chinese grandmaster, won the 2024 Tata Steel Masters. Keymer, a German grandmaster, won his first German Championship in 2025.

Challenger Javokhir Sindarov, fourth with 2782, is 72 rating points and 22 places ahead of reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju, who is 26th with 2710.
Neither player played classical chess during the month covered by the list.
Gukesh, representing India, won the title in Singapore in December 2024 by beating Ding Liren 7.5–6.5 after winning the final classical game. Sindarov earned this challenge by winning the 2026 Candidates Tournament, the event that selects the champion’s opponent.
Their classical match is scheduled to begin in Geneva on 24 November. Under FIDE’s rules, either player wins the title by reaching 7.5 points in a maximum of 14 classical games. A 7–7 tie sends the match to faster tiebreak games on 12 December.
Elo ratings estimate relative playing strength and predict results; the match results, not the ratings, decide the title. The tiebreak begins with four games at 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per move. If level, two games at 10 minutes plus five seconds follow, then, if needed, two at three minutes plus two seconds. If still tied, individual three-minute-plus-two-second games follow, with colours reversed after each draw, until a decisive result.
