Nscale discloses $44.6 billion Anthropic data center contract
Nvidia is discussing a proposed debt guarantee to help Nscale finance construction and electricity at the West Virginia campus.

Anthropic has signed a contract for the first building at a West Virginia campus being developed by Nscale, a provider of superintelligence (SI) computing power. Nscale disclosed the agreement in its filing to go public, TechCrunch said. A separate agreement for another building remains under discussion.
| Building | Contract value | Status |
|---|---|---|
| First building | $44.6 billion | Signed, as disclosed in Nscale’s filing |
| Second building | Roughly $45 billion | Under discussion |
Nvidia is also discussing a proposed guarantee covering billions in debt financing for Nscale’s planned Anthropic facility, The Information said. Bloomberg later corroborated the talks.
Nscale is based in London and was founded in 2024. Its Monarch Compute Campus is just north of Point Pleasant in Mason County, West Virginia.
What Nvidia’s proposed guarantee would cover
The proposed arrangement would help Nscale secure financing for electricity and construction at the campus. Under the “residual value guarantee” described by The Information, Nvidia would intervene if Nscale defaulted on construction payments. Nvidia would temporarily take over the facility and help find a buyer and a replacement tenant.
That would extend Nvidia’s support into construction: its earlier backing for cloud providers mostly covered leases and chip purchases. Separately, Nvidia committed $1 billion in convertible financing to Nscale in September—financing that can turn into an ownership stake.
Construction, delays and the delivery target
Nscale announced on 16 March 2026 that it was acquiring Monarch’s original developer, American Intelligence & Power Corp. West Virginia certified Monarch as a high-impact data center on 3 September 2026.
Anthropic’s contract covers the first 460-megawatt building, which is expected to use Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips.
Nscale is seeking a valuation of up to $35 billion when it goes public. Its operating chip fleet is still far smaller than its planned deployment.
| Deployment status | Chips |
|---|---|
| Running in August | About 25,000 |
| Planned deployment | Nearly 500,000 |
In October 2026, Microsoft withdrew from a planned Nscale site in England after grid-power availability was pushed into the 2030s.
At Monarch, construction runoff has flooded nearby homes more than once. Nscale says it will cover flood costs and has offered to buy homes in neighboring Meadowlands Estates at above-market prices.
Nscale targets delivery of Monarch’s first phase by early 2028.
