The coalition says it attacked a Houthi missile depot and that Saudi air defences intercepted a missile headed for Riyadh; the Houthis claim strikes on Saudi oil facilities and targets in Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition said its October 26 operation in Yemen destroyed four Houthi ballistic-missile launchers and five tunnels used to store missiles. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki also said its forces attacked a missile depot. He said the operation aimed to cut supply lines between Houthi-controlled areas, Al Jazeera reported
Saudi Arabia leads a coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government against the Houthis. A 2022 truce that had halted most fighting collapsed in September, and the Houthis seized much of Yemen’s Red Sea coast. Earlier in October, an attack on Riyadh’s airport killed 13 people and wounded more than 300. The airport reopened and flights resumed on Sunday.
Al-Maliki said Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile headed toward Riyadh on Monday. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree separately said the group had struck Riyadh’s airport with a ballistic missile. The claimed hit on the airport is not established by the coalition’s account of an interception.
Saree also said Houthi drones struck oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia. He claimed further ballistic-missile attacks on forces and weapons depots in the Salah al-Din area of Yemen’s Aden governorate and the al-Wahat area of Lahij governorate. The effects of those claimed strikes remain unverified. Yemen’s government forces launched a counteroffensive this month aimed at recapturing Houthi-held territory.
The October 26 vote empowers President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to support Saudi defence on request. He says any military action would protect Saudi territory and borders, not strike Yemen.
