Ukraine charges Zelensky’s former spokesperson with treason
Authorities also charge Yulia Mendel with justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, accusing her of spreading messages favorable to Russia.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office and Security Service have announced treason charges against Yulia Mendel, a former press secretary to President Volodymyr Zelensky. She also faces a charge of justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
The authorities said investigators allege that Mendel used her public recognition and government communications experience to spread messages favorable to Russia. They allege the messages were intended to discredit Ukraine and weaken its international support, Civic.am, a news site close to the governing Civil Contract party, said.
Civic.am’s report did not include Mendel’s response or state her custody status. The charges are allegations, not a finding of guilt.
