President Donald Trump’s administration has announced an $8 billion Harvest Fuel Relief programme to help farmers address temporarily higher production costs and market disruptions, the White House said in an October 22 statement.
The White House said the US Department of Agriculture had already delivered payments to Iowa farmers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program and Farmer Bridge Assistance.
The $8 billion represents announced support, not payments reported as delivered under Harvest Fuel Relief. The White House has not specified who will qualify, when payments will begin or how the programme will be funded.
