OL Lyonnes beat Inter Milan 6–0 at Groupama Stadium on 28 October, the third matchday of the Women’s Champions League league phase. The result put Lyon provisionally top of the standings.
Lyon had previously drawn 0–0 with Chelsea and now has two wins and a draw after three matches. In its match account, Eurosport said Lyon was well placed to finish in the top four, which would take it directly to the quarter-finals.
How Lyon scored
Lyon’s match account lists the scorers and times:
| Scorer | Goals | Minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Marie-Antoinette Katoto | 2 | 18, 45 |
| Lily Yohannes | 1 | 59 |
| Vicki Becho | 3 | 69, 76, stoppage time |
Katoto put Lyon two goals ahead before halftime. Yohannes then lobbed the goalkeeper from long range, and Becho scored twice from rebounds before completing her hat-trick late in the match. Coach Jonatan Giráldez said Lyon had built attacks well but struggled to finish them in the first half, then did both in the second.
What comes next
The lead remains provisional while the league phase continues; Lyon needs a top-four finish to claim the direct quarter-final place described by Eurosport. Lyon lists an away French league match against Montpellier as its next fixture.
