American Skye Blakely won the women’s all-around title at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam on Friday, 23 October. The 21-year-old scored 55.733 points to finish ahead of Russia’s Liudmila Roshchina and China’s Ke Qinqin.
The victory came little more than two years after Blakely ruptured her right Achilles tendon during floor-exercise training, two days before the US trials for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The injury required surgery and ended her season, the Guardian reported.
The all-around combines scores from four events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. BBC Sport also reported the completed British placings.
