Zhang won with 221 kg, ahead of Miranda Ulrey on 220 kg and Kim So Hyon on 214 kg. On 30 October, Armenia’s Alexandra Grigoryan won clean-and-jerk bronze and finished fourth overall with 205 kg in the separate 57 kg event.
China’s Zhang Haiqin won the women’s 53 kg overall title with 221 kg on the third day of the World Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China, on 29 October. US lifter Miranda Ulrey took silver with 220 kg and North Korea’s Kim So Hyon bronze with 214 kg.
On 30 October, Armenia’s Alexandra Grigoryan won clean-and-jerk bronze in the women’s 57 kg event and finished fourth overall with 205 kg. It was Armenia’s first medal at these championships, but not an overall medal.
In weightlifting, each athlete’s best successful snatch—a lift from floor to overhead in one motion—is added to their best clean and jerk, which takes the bar overhead in two stages. Medals for each lift are separate from medals for that combined total.
Grigoryan managed one successful snatch, at 85 kg. She missed her first clean and jerk at 113 kg, then made 114 kg and 120 kg. That last lift won her clean-and-jerk bronze; added to her snatch, it gave her a 205 kg total.
The women’s 57 kg overall standings put Ukraine’s Olha Ivzhenko in bronze position at 214 kg, 9 kg ahead of Grigoryan.
| Place and lifter | Snatch | Clean and jerk | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold — Oh Kwan Ok | 102 kg |
Sardarapat and Van drew 2–2 in the opener; Pyunik beat Urartu 1–0 to join leaders Noah on 28 points, with Noah yet to play.
| 125 kg |
| 227 kg |
| Silver — Chen Guan-ling | 90 kg | 125 kg | 215 kg |
| Bronze — Olha Ivzhenko | 96 kg | 118 kg | 214 kg |
| Fourth — Alexandra Grigoryan | 85 kg | 120 kg | 205 kg |
Grigoryan had won overall bronze at the 2024 World Championships with the same 205 kg total, along with clean-and-jerk silver. She had earlier won the European overall title in February 2024 with 196 kg and took European overall silver in April 2026 with 210 kg.
A day after US lifter Hampton Morris took men’s 65 kg silver on 28 October, Zhang won China’s second overall gold of the championships on 29 October. Her successful 123 kg clean and jerk put her ahead of Ulrey. Zhang then missed 126 kg in an attempt to set a world record for the total, leaving her winning total at 221 kg. Ulrey’s 220 kg was an international career best.
North Korea’s Kim So Hyon competed in Group B and took overall bronze at 214 kg as well as clean-and-jerk gold at 123 kg. The separate lift medals and overall medals went to these athletes:
| Result | Gold | Silver | Bronze |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snatch | Zhang Haiqin — 98 kg | Miranda Ulrey — 98 kg | Rozegi Ramos — 97 kg |
| Clean and jerk | Kim So Hyon — 123 kg | Zhang Haiqin — 123 kg | Miranda Ulrey — 122 kg |
| Overall total | Zhang Haiqin — 221 kg | Miranda Ulrey — 220 kg | Kim So Hyon — 214 kg |
Zhang and Ulrey both snatched 98 kg, while Kim and Zhang both made 123 kg in the clean and jerk. When lifters make the same weight, the one who made it first ranks higher for that lift. The results place Zhang first in the snatch and Kim first in the clean and jerk.
