Armenia’s Narek Harutyunyan, Hrayr Alikhanyan and Manvel Khndzrtsyan are out of gold-medal contention after defeats on 31 October at the 2026 World Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. Harutyunyan and Alikhanyan lost their opening bouts; Khndzrtsyan won his first contest before losing in the next round.
The Armenian results
| Wrestler | Weight class | Stage | Opponent | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Narek Harutyunyan | 74 kg | Opening bout | Inalbek Sheriev | Lost |
| Hrayr Alikhanyan | 79 kg | Opening bout | Ismail Khaniev (Russia) | Lost |

A conditional route to bronze
Repechage gives wrestlers beaten by eventual finalists another route to compete for bronze; it does not guarantee a medal. Khndzrtsyan needs Mutaliev to reach the final, Harutyunyan needs Sheriev to advance, and Alikhanyan needs Khaniev to do so. None of the three Armenians has yet qualified for repechage.
The published schedule puts the semifinals on 31 October at 16:30 Astana time [15:30 Yerevan time]. Those bouts will determine the finalists and, in turn, whether the Armenians can continue.
For these weight classes, repechage is scheduled for 1 November at 16:30 Astana time [15:30 Yerevan time], followed by medal bouts at 18:00 Astana time [17:00 Yerevan time]. Armenian participation depends on qualification.
