The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued General License 5AA for certain transactions related to the Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. bond. The license’s title specifies that the authorization applies on or after 18 December 2026.
OFAC also issued an amended answer to a frequently asked question, FAQ 595. Its announcement does not specify the previous deadline or the license’s full conditions. The authorization concerns certain transactions involving the specified bond; it does not establish broader sanctions relief.
