Augsburg said defender Juma Bah received racist abuse and death threats on Instagram and that his family were also threatened, in a club statement.
The abuse followed Augsburg’s matchday 7 draw with Union Berlin. Bah had been sent off during that game.
Augsburg said it stood firmly behind Bah and would not tolerate racist abuse or threats against its players and would report the incident to police and explore every legal option available to it.

The 16-year-old was sent off at Fleetwood in his second start of the season, leaving Arsenal short of wing options before Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
