Magdeburg followed their defeat against Dynamo Dresden with a 6–1 win over Karlsruhe. Mateusz Żukowski scored the opening two goals from penalties in the 39th and 51st minutes, and Magdeburg scored five times in the second half. Karlsruhe had won their preceding league game 4–0 against Darmstadt.
