Sole source: Cohere said it completed the initial close of its Series E funding round, led by Schwarz Group. The company’s 29 October 2026 announcement set a target of up to CAD 7 billion for the full round, not a figure for the money raised so far.
In its announcement, Cohere named Bell Ventures, Bullhound Capital, Inovia Capital, NVIDIA, Prosperity7 Ventures and the Government of Canada as other participants. Cohere described the round as the largest ever raised by a private Canadian company.
Models, customer systems and cybersecurity
Cohere said it plans to use the funding to build a superintelligence (SI) company outside the United States and China, developing advanced models, a platform institutions can control and cyber defenses.
The company said its North platform runs in a customer’s own cloud, data center or isolated computing environment and lets customers use Cohere models alongside others. That design is intended to give organizations control over the systems and data they use.
Over the following twelve months, Cohere said it plans to complete its combination with Aleph Alpha and its acquisition of AISLE. It also plans to launch Cohere Cyber for isolated and classified environments, release its next generation of models and begin large-scale model training with allied partners.
