Amaury Sport Organisation and Saudi Motorsport Company have jointly decided to move the 2027 Dakar Rally out of Saudi Arabia. The organisers say the motorsport event, scheduled for January 1–15, 2027, will go ahead in a different territory, which they have not yet named.
Saudi Arabia has hosted seven consecutive editions since 2020. The move interrupts that run, but the organisers describe it as an exceptional, one-off decision rather than a permanent departure.
The organisers’ joint statement, published by Motorsport Week, cited “recent developments in the region” as the reason for relocating the rally. The statement did not specify those developments.
The organisers say Saudi Arabia will host Dakar 2028, marking the rally’s 50th running, and that work on that edition is already under way.
Amaury Sport Organisation will organise the relocated 2027 edition. It says it is in direct contact with competitors, teams and partners to support the transition, and that the replacement territory will be announced separately in the coming days.

The 16-year-old was sent off at Fleetwood in his second start of the season, leaving Arsenal short of wing options before Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
