Google plans to invest $15 billion in Malaysia during 2027–2028, with spending on data center campuses, clean energy, water security and worker training.
The company plans new campuses in the states of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. Its first campus, at Elmina Business Park in Selangor, is already operating, CNA said.
Google said it plans to add more than 1 gigawatt of clean energy capacity to Malaysia’s national grid. It also said it would pay for all the electricity its campuses use and the direct infrastructure costs of connecting them to the grid.
The company projects that construction will contribute an annual average of $1.1 billion to Malaysia’s gross domestic product and support more than 37,000 local jobs per year. Once the facilities operate, Google projects they will sustain more than 9,000 local jobs per year, with wages averaging 45 percent above the national median.
Google also announced 4 new training programs aimed at upskilling 800,000 Malaysians over the next 5 years.

The tracker puts growth at 2.8% in the first half of 2027; both readings were revised up by about 0.1 percentage points on average from September.
