Kyivvodokanal said Russian attacks had cut power to its main water facilities on 3 November. The whole metro network was also suspended, while the water supplier and electricity workers worked to restore service.

Kyiv’s water supply was entirely cut off on 3 November, Kyivvodokanal said, and the capital’s entire metro network was suspended. The water supplier said Russian attacks and damage to energy infrastructure had left its main facilities without electricity.
The outages follow a campaign of Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure that began in late September 2026, ahead of the heating season, Radio Svoboda said. During the winter of 2025–2026, Ukrainians had already endured prolonged periods without heating, electricity and water in severe cold.
Power cuts and restoration work
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Kyiv’s power situation was becoming “very difficult.” He said damage from Russian attacks on regional energy facilities had prompted emergency power cuts in Kyiv and the surrounding region, disrupting public electric transport as well. BBC said the entire metro network had been suspended.
Kyivvodokanal said its specialists were working with electricity workers to restore service. Once power returns, the utility said, crews will still need time to restart equipment, fill the water network and stabilize pressure. It said it would provide further updates as the situation changes.
For drinking water in the meantime, the utility advised residents to use the city’s public wells. Locations are listed on Kyivvodfond’s website.
