Tasman’s Kyren Taumoefolau scored 19 tries in 11 games in the 2026 NPC, setting a Division 1 record for tries in one season. RugbyPass gave the total in its October 26 post-season account. A try is a way to score in rugby.
The previous mark was 15 tries, reached by Auckland’s Terry Wright in 1984 and Otago’s Brendan Laney in 1998. Taumoefolau scored at least once in nine of his 11 games.
Canterbury won the 2026 NPC title. Taumoefolau’s record covers the full Division 1 season, not the final; with the season over, 19 is the mark for future players to surpass.

The 16-year-old was sent off at Fleetwood in his second start of the season, leaving Arsenal short of wing options before Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
