Music charts: Country singer Morgan Wallen earns 23rd Country Airplay No. 1
“Been by Now” tops the 7 November 2026-dated chart, giving Wallen the fastest climb to 23 No. 1s and the first run of at least 4 in each of 3 consecutive years.

Country-pop singer Morgan Wallen, from Sneedville, Tennessee, has earned his 23rd Country Airplay No. 1 with “Been by Now.” The song rises one place to lead the 7 November 2026-dated chart.
Billboard says no artist has reached that total faster. Wallen took just more than 8 years after his first leader, “Up Down,” a collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, in June 2018. Previous record holder Luke Bryan needed nearly 10 years.
The radio audience behind the result
Luminate’s figures put the song’s audience at 33.5 million impressions during 23–29 October 2026, up 4% from the previous week. Audience impressions measure the audience for radio plays.
Country Airplay ranks songs played on 150 country radio stations, weighting monitored airplay by each station’s audience ratings. Unlike Hot Country Songs, which added streaming and sales to its formula in 2012, Country Airplay measures country-radio performance alone.
A second record across consecutive years
Billboard also credits Wallen with becoming the first act to earn at least 4 Country Airplay No. 1s in 3 distinct years—and to do so consecutively.
| Year | No. 1 songs |
|---|---|
| 2024 | 5 |
| 2025 | 4 |
| 2026 | 4 |
The stand-alone single follows “20 Cigarettes,” “Don’t We” and the Ella Langley duet “I Can’t Love You Anymore” as his earlier leaders this year.
Wallen’s records concern speed and repeated annual success, rather than the highest career total. Kenny Chesney retains that lead with 34 No. 1s. This latest result gives Wallen 21 leaders this decade, 7 more than runner-up Luke Combs.
Billboard has announced the result ahead of its full online chart update, scheduled for 3 November 2026.
