The world No. 1 saved all four break points in the women’s singles final to claim her tour-leading fourth title of 2026.

Elena Rybakina defended her Ningbo Open women’s singles title on October 25, beating Leylah Fernandez 6–2, 6–2 for her first trophy since becoming world No. 1.
Rybakina had overtaken Aryna Sabalenka at the top of the rankings after the US Open. Her opening match at the China Open then ended in defeat by 118th-ranked Alina Charaeva.
Against the 30th-ranked Fernandez, a US Open finalist in 2021, Rybakina saved all four break points she faced—points that could have cost her a game on her own serve. She finished the final with a forehand winner on her first match point.
Ningbo was Rybakina’s tour-leading fourth title of 2026, following victories at the Australian Open, Stuttgart and the US Open. It was the 15th title of her career.
The win also extended Rybakina’s unbeaten career record at the Ningbo Open to 8–0. She had beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova in the previous season’s final.

Defending champion Elena Rybakina beat Diana Shnaider, while unseeded Leylah Fernandez defeated Marie Bouzkova to set up Sunday’s final, Al Jazeera reports.
