Arsenal fear forward Bukayo Saka could miss up to eight weeks with a quadriceps injury, BBC reported on Friday. Club medics initially estimate a minimum absence of six weeks, but head coach Mikel Arteta says further scans and specialist opinions are needed before a definitive assessment.
The 25-year-old injured the muscle at the front of his thigh during Wednesday’s 2–2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich and was forced off. He will miss Saturday’s home Premier League match against Everton.
Arsenal enter the Everton match second in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Manchester City. Saka has scored four goals in 11 appearances this season, while summer signing Christos Tzolis is also injured, reducing the club’s options on the wings.
If the early recovery concerns are realised, BBC reports that Saka would miss several key Arsenal games and England’s forthcoming Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain. Those longer absences remain conditional on the final injury assessment.
Saka also missed seven Arsenal games after suffering an Achilles injury in March. He returned to help the club win its first Premier League title in 22 years.
Arteta said fluid around the affected muscle had made the extent of the injury difficult to assess. He also said Saka had struggled to walk without pain and had restricted movement.
BBC’s Friday report said another MRI scan—a scan that produces detailed images inside the body—was scheduled for that afternoon. Arsenal are awaiting the further scans and specialist opinions before giving a definitive assessment.

The 16-year-old was sent off at Fleetwood in his second start of the season, leaving Arsenal short of wing options before Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
