Israel’s UN ambassador rejects the commission’s conclusion that Israeli authorities and forces continued genocidal acts against Palestinians after the October 2025 ceasefire.

A UN commission of human rights experts said on Monday that Israel continued committing genocidal acts against Palestinian civilians in Gaza after a ceasefire was declared in October 2025. The Guardian described the findings in its October 28 account.
The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory said Israeli authorities and forces continued those acts with the intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, in whole or in part. That conclusion is the commission’s assessment, not a court judgment.
The Guardian also said the Israeli military had killed 1,431 Palestinians since the ceasefire, including 300 children. The method used to compile that casualty count is unspecified.
Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Daniel Meron, rejected the report as an “attempt to destroy the Jewish state”. He said it sought to undermine Israel’s legitimacy and deny its fundamental right to exist and defend itself.

Gaza Municipality has begun emergency cleaning and maintenance despite limited resources. In its October 5 assessment, the Norwegian Refugee Council said available and expected supplies could provide partial help to about 52,000 families across Gaza.
