The Lycan won the digital-book award at the 2026 Harvey Awards, while artist David Mazzucchelli and former DC Comics executive Jenette Kahn entered the Hall of Fame. These are selected results from the ceremony, covered by Publishers Weekly in its October 28 report.
The Hall of Fame selections celebrated the 40th anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns. This year’s inductees were writers, artists and editors who contributed to Batman comics.
Actor Thomas Jane accepted the award for The Lycan. The organizers credit the comic to Mike Carey, Jane, David James Kelly and Diego Yapur, and list Comixology Originals as its publisher.
The organizers officially call the category Digital Book of the Year; the ceremony report calls it Best Digital Book. The category recognizes storytelling created for digital publication and innovation in that format. Nominees were announced and voting opened on 7 July 2026, with voting running through 28 August 2026.
According to the organizers, a committee of selected creators, publishers, retailers, educators and librarians votes on the nomination ballot. Industry professionals with Professional or Artist Alley badges from ReedPop comic conventions between 2016 and 2026 were eligible to vote on the final ballot, while other industry professionals could apply to vote.
Organizers had scheduled the ceremony for 9 October 2026 at the Javits Center during New York Comic Con.
Mazzucchelli illustrated Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, serialized in DC Comics’ Batman issues 404–407 from February through May 1987. DC publisher Jim Lee accepted the Hall of Fame honor because Mazzucchelli was not in attendance.

Kahn joined DC Comics as publisher in 1976 and became president in 1981. In 1989, she exchanged the publisher title for editor-in-chief while remaining president. She left in 2002. Kahn supported royalties and publishing rights that gave creators a financial stake in their work’s commercial success.
Introducing Kahn, former DC editor Paul Levitz called her “the heroine of the comics community” and praised their work together to modernize the industry. In her acceptance speech, Kahn said she was proud of securing creators’ rights and giving readers stories that offered pleasure, inspiration and a feeling of being seen.
