Amazon has put its Echo Time alarm clock on sale, with optional sleep sensing that the company says can help it choose when to wake users. Designed specifically for bedrooms, it follows Amazon’s earlier Echo Spot alarms. Engadget detailed the device and its Kids model on October 28.
| Model | Price | Colors | Kids+ subscription |
|---|---|---|---|
| Echo Time | $200 | Graphite, Glacier White, Coral Pink | No included year specified |
| Echo Time Kids | $210 | Galactic Grape, Cosmic Lime | One year included |
The spherical clock has a 3.2-inch circular touchscreen with hundreds of clock faces, including analog designs and seasonal themes. Users can ask Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, to change the face. The screen gradually brightens like a sunrise as the alarm approaches and dims at night while keeping the time visible. A matching adjustable stand costs $40 extra.
Amazon says children can use Echo Time Kids to set alarms, change clock faces and ask Alexa questions, while parents retain control over the experience and sleep schedules.
Amazon’s Kids+ guide, first published on August 28, 2023 and updated on October 22, 2026, describes an ad-free subscription for ages 3–12. Its catalogue includes books, apps, videos, games and audio across compatible Amazon devices. The Echo Time Kids bundle includes one year; its specific renewal price, automatic-renewal terms and cancellation arrangements remain unspecified.
Amazon describes the sleep features as “science-backed” and says room-temperature sensors and presence detection help determine sleep routines, while ultrasound—sound above the range of human hearing—detects breathing. Its smart alarm can identify lighter sleep without requiring a wearable device.
The stated wake-up range is “within 10 to 60 minutes” of the set alarm, depending on sensor readings. Whether the window falls before or after the set time and the latest guaranteed wake-up time remain unspecified.
Echo Time has no camera. Visual indicators show when Alexa is listening, and a dedicated button switches off the microphones completely. Where sleep-sensing data is processed or retained, and whether switching off the microphones also stops ultrasound sensing, remain unspecified.
The sensing-based smart-alarm features are optional. Users who need an alarm at a particular time can switch those features off and use a fixed-time alarm instead.
