Amazon MGM has acquired the first paid streaming window for A24’s Elden Ring film across a large number of international markets, unnamed sources told Deadline in its October 27, 2026 report. The agreement leaves theatrical distribution rights available to international buyers.
A24 is fully financing the live-action adaptation of FromSoftware’s fantasy video game, Deadline said. Alex Garland wrote and directed the film, with Kit Connor playing the lead.
On April 20, 2026, game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 announced a spring production start. Filming wrapped during the summer, and the film is in post-production—the work after filming—with Industrial Light & Magic, Deadline said.
The reported “pay-one” licence covers the first paid streaming window after the cinema release. Theatrical rights instead allow distributors to release the film in cinemas. In the markets covered by Amazon MGM’s agreement, buyers cannot acquire an all-rights package combining those cinema rights with the streaming rights already licensed.
The individual territories, financial terms and international streaming launch date have not been disclosed. A24, Amazon and the producers declined to comment to Deadline.
Deadline’s assessment is that some international buyers may be disappointed by the absence of all-rights packages, but that the split reduces their risk.
Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24’s April 20 announcement set a March 3, 2028 theatrical release, including IMAX.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.
