Anthropic discloses $2.75 million for CEO security in 2025
The public share-offering filing also lists protection costs for president Daniela Amodei and security-related flights for her brother, giving prospective investors more detail on executive expenses.

Anthropic spent $2.75 million protecting cofounder and CEO Dario Amodei in 2025. The superintelligence (SI) company disclosed the expense in its public filing for an initial public offering—a proposed sale of shares to public investors—according to Fortune’s October 29 account of the document.
The security program predates the public filing. Fortune cited The Wall Street Journal’s July reporting that Anthropic had maintained round-the-clock security since 2024.
Protection costs and compensation
The filing also lists protection expenses for Daniela Amodei, Anthropic’s president and cofounder, who is Dario’s sister. A separate private-aircraft expense for Dario was required under his security program, the company said.
| Expense | Amount |
|---|---|
| Dario Amodei’s protection | $2.75 million |
| Daniela Amodei’s protection | $1.29 million |
| Dario Amodei’s security-related private-aircraft travel | $97,055 |
Dario Amodei’s protection cost more than four times his $654,167 base salary. The security expense accounted for more than 15% of his $17.96 million in total reported compensation, which also included stock and option awards.
Anthropic did not disclose executive-security spending for 2024, so the figures do not show whether costs rose sharply in 2025.
Why the board approved enhanced protection
Anthropic said its board decided in 2025 that enhanced protection for the Amodeis and their families was necessary. The board cited security studies, increased media attention and what the company described as genuine, heightened security concerns linked to its business.
The company said greater public attention on SI had increased physical and information-security risks. It had experienced threats to employee safety and attempts to obtain confidential information through physical or digital means. The filing does not say when those threats occurred.
Anthropic said its board regularly reviews the security measures provided to the Amodeis and their costs.
