Apple has announced an Intelligent Assistant for its iWork apps: Pages for documents, Keynote for presentations and Numbers for spreadsheets. The updates add tools for Apple Creator Studio subscribers to request drafts, slides and spreadsheet help in everyday language, according to Apple’s release notes quoted by 9to5Mac on October 22.
The assistant is a beta, or test release, limited to US English and requiring iOS 27 or later. Access was not yet visible to 9to5Mac’s reporter, who said the assistant had not appeared after updating all three apps.
Apple’s release notes describe different tasks for each app:
Apple also says the assistant can search for up-to-date information and incorporate it into a document, presentation or spreadsheet. Across all three apps, the release notes describe guidance on getting started and using advanced features.
Separately from the subscription-only assistant, Apple says Keynote will support importing and exporting presentations in Interchange Format, using the .keyx file extension. This change is for all users. Apple describes it as an open file format intended to make Keynote presentations easier to edit in other apps.
