Armenia’s government has approved 148.5 million drams from its reserve fund to acquire two Armenian manuscripts and transfer them to the Matenadaran, according to its October 22 Cabinet announcement.
The works belong to Jeselsohn’s private collection, which holds five Armenian manuscripts. The decision funds the planned purchase and transfer of two of them; it is not confirmation of a completed handover.
| Manuscript | Copied by | Year | Place |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miscellany—a collection of different texts | Sargis Pitsak | 1353 | Drazark |
| Richly illuminated Gospel—a Gospel with elaborate decoration | Azaria | 1695 | New Julfa, Isfahan |
The government has not specified a transfer date or arrangements for public access. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport is to receive the money for the acquisition and transfer to the Matenadaran.
