The October 12–18 Book Hot 100 combines sales, subscriptions and social-media activity, with Case Closed leading physical stores and e-commerce.
Gosho Aoyama’s Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan, debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Japan’s Book Hot 100 with volume 109. The chart, released October 22 for the October 12–18, 2026 tracking week, puts it ahead of the previous leader, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Comic Edition Vol. 33.
Released October 16, Case Closed Vol. 109 ranked first in both physical stores and e-commerce but 14th in e-books. Slime fell to second overall while leading the e-book ranking.
The Book Hot 100 is not a pure sales chart. It combines physical books, e-books, subscriptions such as library loans, and social-media activity. An overall No. 1 therefore reflects those combined measures, not simply the most copies sold. The published ranking gives no absolute sales totals, so it does not show the sales gap between titles.
Yu Nagira’s You, Like a Star illustrates that mix: it rose from fourth to third overall while leading both subscriptions and social-media activity. It also ranked third in physical stores, in its 49th week on the chart.

The film adaptation of You, Like a Star opened October 9, making this tracking period its second week in cinemas. Nagira also had a second top-10 title: Hoshi wo Amu, the book’s sequel, climbed from 18th to seventh.
Akiko Abe’s Cafuné made the largest climb among these titles, rising from 46th to sixth after its paperback edition was released October 15. The book was in its 48th week on the chart.
Shangri-La Frontier Vol. 28, released October 16, entered at fourth overall and second in e-books. The series’ television anime is scheduled to begin its third season on January 10, 2027, running for two consecutive quarters.
Her 16 September–October shows grossed $125.5 million and sold 539,000 tickets, setting records for revenue and attendance per performance.
