OpenAI adds iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins to ChatGPT

OpenAI announced iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins for ChatGPT on October 27, 2026, allowing users to connect their Apple email and calendars. In its announcement quoted by 9to5Mac, OpenAI said both plugins are available on all ChatGPT plans on web, desktop and iOS.

ChatGPT added plugin support in March 2023. ChatGPT apps were renamed plugins in July 2026; the new iCloud connections extend that support to Apple’s email and calendar services.

OpenAI says the Mail connection lets users ask ChatGPT to find an email or summarize their inbox. With Calendar connected, users can ask what is coming up or request an update to a calendar event.

Connecting the plugins and controlling access

Each plugin requires signing in with an app-specific password, 9to5Mac said. Apple’s guidance, dated October 8, 2025, describes this as a password created for a particular app so that the app does not need to collect or store the main Apple Account password. Generating and using one requires two-factor authentication on the Apple Account—a second identity check in addition to a password.

Users can sign in to their Apple Account at account.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security, select App-Specific Passwords and choose Generate an app-specific password. The generated password goes into the app’s password field when signing in to the Apple Account.

To withdraw access, users can return to the same settings and select Remove beside a password, or Revoke All. Revoking a password signs the app using it out of the Apple Account until the user generates a new password and signs in again.

Changing or resetting the main Apple Account password also revokes every app-specific password automatically. Users who want their connected apps to keep working must generate new passwords.
