The Scottish trio’s fifth album will be its first since 2021’s Screen Violence. Second single “Overthinker” is out ahead of the release and a planned 2027 tour.

Chvrches’ fifth album, All the King’s Men, is due on January 22, 2027 through independent label group Futures Music Group. The Scottish trio has released “Overthinker” as its second single, Billboard said on October 27.
The album will be the band’s first in almost six years, following 2021’s Screen Violence, which reached No. 4 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart. Singer Lauren Mayberry and fellow members Iain Cook and Martin Doherty began a break in 2023 after touring that record.
The band announced the album and its return to touring in an October 21 post reproduced by Hot Press. Lead single “Roses” had arrived in September.
In its October 21 account, SPIN said the members wanted to challenge themselves creatively when they reunited. They replaced the previous album’s remote-working approach with intensive three-week sessions together in Glasgow. The band describes the resulting album as emotionally charged indie rock.
Billboard describes “Overthinker” as driven by synthesizers and concerned with complicated family relationships and depression. It characterizes the song as more personal than “Roses,” which addressed social issues.
At an invitation-only, phone-free charity show on October 26, Chvrches debuted eight songs from the album at Glasgow’s Assumption Studios, the converted church where it was recorded. Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil joined the band for three tracks, including a cover of his band’s 2007 single “Machines,” Billboard said.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.
