Fal raises $1.3 billion in Bessemer-led funding round
The startup announced $1.65 billion across two rounds. Bloomberg put Fal’s valuation at $16 billion, twice its April level.

Fal raised $1.3 billion in Series F funding in a round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with Nvidia, Sound Ventures and T. Rowe Price participating, TechCrunch said on 3 November. The San Francisco startup announced the round alongside an earlier Series E led by Sequoia; the combined $1.65 billion covers both rounds, not Series F alone.
Bloomberg, as cited by TechCrunch, said the deal valued Fal at $16 billion, double its $8 billion valuation in April. Before those rounds, Fal said in a 9 December 2025 announcement that it had raised a $140 million Series D, welcoming Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins and NVIDIA as new investors alongside existing partners.
Demand and computing costs
Fal hosts and runs superintelligence (SI) models for video, images and audio. Its services include inference: running an already-trained model to produce an output. Demand for inference services has risen sharply, especially among customers using open-source models.
Bloomberg said Fal passed $800 million in annualized revenue earlier in 2026, TechCrunch said. Annualized revenue expresses a revenue pace over a year; it does not mean Fal booked that amount in sales over a completed year.
Fal was co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur, a former Coinbase machine learning leader and Oracle engineer, and Gorkem Yurtseven, previously a developer at Amazon. As inference providers including Baseten, Fireworks AI and Modal grow rapidly and raise large funding rounds at higher valuations, several people familiar with their finances told TechCrunch that the cost of buying or leasing computing capacity keeps their gross margins thin. Gross margin measures the proportion of revenue left after the direct costs of providing a service.
