The US Federal Communications Commission said on October 27, 2026, that it had approved Amazon Leo’s $11.57 billion acquisition of Globalstar, CNA said. The decision clears a regulatory hurdle for the satellite deal.
Amazon announced the agreement on April 14, 2026, to bring Globalstar, a US telecommunications company providing satellite phone and low-speed data services, into Amazon Leo, its satellite business unit.
If completed, the acquisition would add Globalstar’s roughly two dozen satellites to Amazon’s network. Amazon Leo aims to deploy about 3,200 satellites in low orbits around Earth by 2029.
The timetable announced with the April agreement envisaged completion in 2027.
