Nvidia says Firebird signed an investment agreement with Kazakhstan’s government on October 23, with construction underway and commercial launch targeted for the third quarter of 2027.
Chip supplier Nvidia said in an October 23, 2026 announcement that Firebird’s first-phase superintelligence (SI) computing project in Kazakhstan was under construction with Kazakhtelecom at Data Center Valley. A ceremony that day at the presidential palace marked Firebird’s investment agreement with Kazakhstan’s government.
Nvidia described the Kazakhstan expansion as building on Firebird’s first SI computing facility in Armenia. Kazakhtelecom, its construction partner, is Kazakhstan’s largest telecommunications company.
Nvidia said Firebird had secured a US export licence for 45,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell graphics processing units, or GPUs—the chips used for the computing work.
A planned second phase would bring Firebird’s total potential SI infrastructure capacity in Kazakhstan to approximately 500 megawatts. That figure describes the potential total after expansion, not the first phase’s capacity or capacity already operating. Nvidia did not disclose the investment value, agreement terms or first-phase capacity.
Firebird also plans to establish Firebird Labs Kazakhstan to support local SI startups, research and talent development through funding, access to computing resources and research partnerships, Nvidia said.
The first phase targets commercial launch in the third quarter of 2027. That is the planned start of commercial service, distinct from the larger capacity proposed for the second phase.
