Four Palestinians were reported dead in Gaza over the preceding 24 hours, Al Jazeera reported on October 22. Three died in the latest attacks, including a girl killed by gunfire, while the fourth died from wounds sustained in an earlier Israeli strike.
A ceasefire took effect in October 2025. Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 1,538 Palestinians have been killed and 5,498 injured since then.
Wafa, the Palestinian news agency, reported that Israeli gunfire killed a young girl near Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Gaza City, said a strike on a vehicle in the city’s Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood killed one person and seriously injured another. Al Jazeera also reported that a separate strike killed a man riding a bicycle in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the fourth person died on October 22 from wounds sustained in an earlier Israeli strike.
Al Jazeera’s maps show nearly two-thirds of Gaza under Israeli military control or subject to access restrictions. That estimate combines the two categories; it does not describe the entire area as militarily controlled.
Mahmoud said Israel’s troops had expanded their control since the ceasefire, moving from northern Gaza towards the centre and westward. He described the continuing consequences for residents:
People cannot return to their homes, and most buildings in the areas Israel controls have been left in ruins
