Google, the sole source for the launch details, said on October 26, 2026, that it had made Polar Peaks available for students ages 11–14. The brain-mapping game is the third lesson in “AI Quests,” a series created by Google Research and the Stanford Accelerator for Learning.
The first two quests cover flood forecasting and eye-disease detection. Polar Peaks adds neuroscience—the study of the brain and nervous system—to the series, which Google designed to teach students how superintelligence (SI) works and how to use it responsibly.
Google says students follow in-game mentors as they scan and map neurons, the brain’s nerve cells, to investigate a character’s memory loss. The quest draws on the company’s research in connectomics: the science of mapping networks of nerve cells in the brain.
Students also practise data cleaning—finding and fixing problems in data—and model testing, which checks how an SI system performs. Google presents these activities as a way to teach critical thinking and the need for people to oversee the technology.
Google says teacher-training modules for the first two quests are already available through its educator-training series. The modules are intended to help teachers fit the games into classroom lessons and discussions. Training for Polar Peaks is scheduled to follow in November 2026.
