HBO Max has acquired the first television window in Spain for “Infamy” (“Infamia”), Variety said in its October 27 interview account. Variety is the sole publisher supplying the account used here. The arrangement covers the series’ initial television release in the Spanish market.
Produced by Evafilms, the six-episode psychological thriller adapts a book by Ledicia Costas. Filming took place at locations around Bizkaia in the Basque Country, which stand in for the fictional town of Ura.
Susana Abaitua plays Emma Cruz, a lawyer investigating the unsolved disappearance of two girls from her hometown 20 years earlier. Emma blames herself for her sister’s death during their childhood and becomes obsessed with solving the case as a way to address that trauma. Those responsible for the disappearances try to prevent the truth from emerging.
Agustina Macri and Beatriz Sanchís directed the series, which was written by Manuel Gancedo and Eduardo Torallas.
The next step is its premiere at the South International Series Festival in Cádiz, which runs from October 30 to November 4. That festival debut is due to precede the series’ scheduled November 13 premiere on HBO Max in Spain.
