A Chinese-backed green-energy equipment service center has opened in Kazakhstan, offering a local base for power-plant equipment maintenance, modernization and specialist training.
The center was unveiled at a Kazakhstan–China technical cooperation forum in Astana on 27 October and established at the China–SCO Trade and Economic Institute. China Service Technology (Shandong) Co. and its Kazakh subsidiary participated in setting it up.
The center’s operator said 1 steam-turbine modernization project is underway, Eurasianet said. Equipment deliveries for that project are expected in early 2027. Another 3 projects remain under discussion.
Samruk-Energo production managing director Galymbek Autalipov expects Kazakh energy companies to learn from Chinese technology and experience in energy saving, reducing unit costs and improving electricity-production efficiency. Kazakh enterprises also hope to participate in manufacturing imported equipment, while the Chinese side says it is ready to train local specialists.
