Prime Video has renewed Carrie for a second season, continuing Carrie White’s story beyond prom night. Mike Flanagan, who adapted Stephen King’s novel, will return as showrunner, overseeing the series’ creative direction, and executive producer.
The eight-episode first season debuted on October 7. It updates King’s debut novel to the present day, following a sheltered teenager, played by Summer H. Howell, as she enters public high school after her father’s death.
Deadline reports viewing estimates from Luminate, which tracks US streaming audiences. The figures cover a two-day opening window and the series’ first full week:
| Reporting window | Estimated US views |
|---|---|
| October 2–8, with two days of availability | 653,000 |
| First full week | 3.6 million |
Prime Video separately says Carrie ranked No. 1 on its service in more than 100 territories during its first two weeks. Those rankings do not give a worldwide viewing total. Deadline reports that the service does not release viewership figures; Luminate’s estimates measure US viewing rather than the global audience.
The first-season finale departs from the novel’s ending. As Deadline describes it, Carrie survives rather than dying from a stabbing. She leaves town in her friend Emaline’s car, with their destination unknown.
Flanagan said he had imagined a story extending beyond the prom from the beginning. That describes his creative plan, rather than specific events confirmed for season two. King will remain an executive producer.
Howell is set to return as Carrie for the second season. Prime Video has not announced a release date or detailed the next season’s plot.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.
